A word from our pastor

Dear George Fox community,

I know that you are with me in broken heartedness today. We are grieving today as a nation at the loss of such precious life. In the wake of the shooting in Clackamas and even the fires yesterday in Newberg, it is a heavy, heavy season.

I know that many of you as well are holding other personal burdens in your hearts for yourself, families and friends as I am.

Advent in the season of anticipating Jesus…and surely, this world needs Jesus more than ever.

We all say together, Come Lord Jesus.

If you would like to join us for prayer in the Spiritual Life House at 3 p.m., please do. Or perhaps you can stop wherever you are at 3 p.m. and lift up the victims’ families and our broken world to the Lord.

I remain grateful to serve at a place that is preparing people to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.

We need Jesus,

Sarah

"It’s Thanksgiving" video review

Guys, I apologize for not noticing this video before.  It is too good to not be published.  Now that it has been a good 20 months since Rebecca Black’s “Friday” came out, we were in need of an even worse and very cringe-inducing video to give us a reason to laugh at her and her problems instead of focusing on our own.

Thus, I present Nicole Westbrook, starring in “It’s Thanksgiving.”  If I am ever going to star in my own music video, I hope they put me in a Kohl’s dress, so I can sway back in forth in a hallway with one hand on my hip.  The only thing I would like more than that is if my random 10-years-older-tattooed-man-friend will party with me while wearing a holiday themed costume.    Oh, and my own girl-with-attitude break-down-solo while my friends honorably whoop with their hands in the ayer.

And there you have it. What was your favorite part?

Sarah Albelda, “I love classic pieces that look sometimes like they’re from the 40s but then it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I like bright, really neon colors, like I love hot pink, but right now I just look a little hipster, New York city type, that’s where I’m from.”
Beautiful outfit Sarah!  We love the contrast of neutral patterns.  Perfect for a sunny autumn afternoon.  Add a jacket and you’ll be ready for winter!

Surviving Thanksgiving

Heading to Aunt Mary’s for the holidays? Don’t want to answer generic questions about college and each and every one of your classes?

Try bringing up some of these topics instead:
-Old married couple, tell us about your first date? When did you know you were in love?
-Hey everyone, what movie should I go see this weekend? What was the best summer blockbuster?
-Let’s talk Black Friday! If you were given $100gift card, where would you go tomorrow and how early would you get there?
-Any one over 40, if you were going to an 80s themed dance, what would you really wear?
-If I was writing a blogpost about thanksgiving to deter my family away from asking about my classes, what type of topics should I bring up?(guilty!)

And if all else fails…
-so how bout them ducks?
-alotta rain this week… yup
